"We Care" --Hah!

This happened last year, but I just happened on the photographs I'd saved so I thought I'd share them here.  Most of the stuff I send through the U.S. Postal Service, or the stuff that gets sent to me, comes through fine, but occasionally there comes one of those obnoxious "We Care" bags (see below), with the packaging or contents damaged (to varying degrees) in transit.  This issue of VII seems to have had deliberate malice practiced upon it. My mind can't conceive what was done to the package to cause this sort of damage. I couldn't even open the pages.

  1. Many years ago in my more fannish days, we'd perhaps joke that seeing "Please do not fold or bend" on one of our mailings would incite postal workers to a frenzy of destruction. A great many years later, I sent one of those old fannish friends a large home-made birthday card with some legend on the envelope along the lines of "Postal Goons: Please Do Not Fold or Bend!" -- which I thought would mightily amuse the friend. But he never mentioned getting it! Could it be -- ?

  2. Put the magazine under some heavy weights for a while to flatten it out.

    1. I tried that, and it didn't work. I ended up putting it out with the recycling.
